Short version: A Local Dictate license is for one person and up to five active Macs. Buy it once, keep your key private, and don't redistribute the app. Payment, tax and receipts are handled by Polar.
The license
When you buy Local Dictate, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on up to five Macs that you own or control, at the same time. You may use the app for your own personal or professional work.
The license is for one person. It may not be shared, resold, sublicensed, rented or used to provide a commercial transcription service to third parties.
Device activations
Each Mac activates the license with Polar. The license allows five active activations. You can deactivate a Mac in the Polar customer portal or from the app to free a slot. Deactivating and replacing a Mac does not require a new purchase.
Restrictions
- Do not copy, redistribute, sell or sublicense the app or your license key.
- Do not remove or circumvent licensing, code-signing or update-security checks.
- Do not reverse engineer the app except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Do not use the app to record or transcribe material you do not have the right to record.
Payments, tax and refunds
Polar is the merchant of record for purchases made through this website. Polar processes the payment, calculates and remits applicable taxes, issues the receipt and delivers the license key. Polar's buyer terms also apply to the transaction.
If something is wrong with your purchase, contact support@serggiu.dev. Refund requests are handled according to the policy shown at checkout, Polar's buyer terms and any mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.
Updates
Local Dictate can check for updates through Sparkle. Updates are provided at our discretion and may add, change or remove features. The app may need a network connection to download an update; your license remains stored in the Keychain.
Your content and privacy
You keep all rights to your audio, transcripts and dictionary entries. Local Dictate processes them on your Mac. See the privacy policy for what is sent to Polar for licensing and to this website for updates.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every recording situation. Keep your own backups of important transcripts and files.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from the use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law, including mandatory consumer rights.
Termination
We may revoke a license if these terms are materially violated, including redistribution or attempts to bypass licensing. You may stop using the app at any time and deactivate your Macs.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts, subject to any mandatory consumer forum rules.
